8. Assessing the Model

The quality of the model is assessed on the basis of a number of factors described in detail below.

The main factors are:

• The sequence identity with the primary parent
• The number and size of insertions and deletions
• The quality of the alignment (which depends on the above factors)
• The amount of change which has been necessary to the parent(s) to create the model.
